Deep Sleep Liquid Formula is a concentrated, herbal formula that claims to restore the body's natural cycle of sleep, fighting the signs of insomnia, a sleep disorder. According to Herbs Etc., the founders behind Deep Sleep's liquid formula, this product is non-habit forming, making it safe even for people dealing with an addiction to sleeping pills. It also reportedly reduces other symptoms that can worsen insomnia, including excessive "mind chatter", sleep latency and the obstruction of REM (rapid eye movement) sleep.
Deep Sleep's liquid formula contains the same ingredients as its softgel formula. These ingredients include fresh California poppy plant, fresh chamomile fower, fresh lemon balm herb, fresh passionflower herb tip, fresh oat seed and orange peel.
No--its ingredients are not clinically proven to induce sleep. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) notes that although chamomile flower has been used traditionally to restore sleeping patterns, few clinical studies prove it actually works. It may decrease sleep latency, however, or the time it takes to fall asleep.
According to additional research, valerian only helps induce drowsiness in some individuals, which could be mistaken for tiredness. Although it can make people feel tired, it won't necessarily help people reach the optimal stage of sleep.
Aside from its ability to induce drowsiness, it does appear to be safe. Like most products, it can cause some stomach upset.
Deep Sleep's liquid formula still isn't that effective for insomniacs--in fact, it only appears to induce drowsiness.
