What is It?
Bio-Glucosamine is a dietary supplement that claims to repair and improve the health of the joints and connective tissues. As a joint health aid, it reportedly helps reduce the pain and inflammation caused by joint-affecting diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and back pain. It is currently commercially available in the United Kingdom, where it was first developed as a health aid for the elderly, who were statistically more prone to joint-affecting diseases. More recently, Bio-Glucosamine became available to American consumers. Recent evidence suggests it may help reduce pain and inflammation around the joints.
What ingredients are in Bio Glucosamine?
Bio-Glucosamine contains glucosamine, a naturally-occurring compound in human cartilage.
Do the ingredients Bio-Glucosamine help improve joint health?
Bio-Glucosamine may lessen pain caused by specific types of joint-affecting diseases, according to recent evidence. According to the Glucosamine and Chondroitin Arthritis Intervention Trial (GAIT), a 2006 trial sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, glucosamine may help reduce pain caused by moderate to severe osteoarthritis of the knee--but few improvements were seen in people with less severe forms of osteoarthritis. Researchers were unsure why glucosamine worked more effectively for osteoarthritis of the knee. A second phase, held in 2008, studied the effects of glucosamine on osteoarthritis sufferers for an additional 28 months, revealing at its conclusion that it helped reduce cartilage loss, a serious consequence of OA.
Is Bio Glucosamine safe? Glucosamine appears to contain few side effects. It may affect the efficacy of some drugs, however, including non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and diabetic drugs.
Verdict:
People specifically suffering from osteoarthritis will highly benefit from this supplement, but will improve the symptoms of most joint diseases.
