Fiber Fusion is an all-natural supplement designed to support colon function--and the removal of intestinal toxins, which can worsen digestive function. But it doesn't do so with dangerous ingredients such as cascara sagrada or senna. Instead, it utilizes the power of fiber and guar gum, which it claims enhances the health of the intestinal tract. Its fibrous formula reportedly has numerous benefits: not only does it assist in the natural emptying of the intestinal tract, it also improves the body's natural detoxification process.
Fiber Fusion contains a proprietary blend of psyllium husk, oat bran, guar gum seed extract, pectin and marshmallow root extract.
Do the ingredients in Fiber Fusion help cleanse the colon? It can--but there isn't any evidence it can help remove intestinal toxins. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), there is sufficient evidence that psyllium husk can help reduce constipation and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), a condition which can cause constipation. Regular use has been shown to decreased gut transit time, speeding up the elimination of stool--stools which can worsen digestive function.
According to the same organization, however, it's never been shown to reduce or eliminate intestinal toxins, and even calls such claims as false and inaccurate. Guar gum also has the same effect on the stools, decreasing gut transit time but demonstrating little evidence it can eliminate intestinal toxins.
Is Fiber Fusion safe? The ingredients in Fiber Fusion have shown to be clinically safe. Not taking this supplement with water can cause it to swell in the esophageal or intestinal tract, however, creating a potential choking hazard.
Although it may help alleviate the symptoms of constipation, this supplement probably isn't an effective colon cleanser.
