Created by Dr. Bo Wagner, a board-certified nutritionist and president of Wagner Healthcare, Colon Magic is a fibrous, nutritionally-enhanced supplement that claims to cleanse the liver and "lower bowels", which he claims can cause people to gain weight--and feel more depressed.
"Colon Magic™ is the best cleansing formula to date to rid the body of these toxins," writes Colon Magic. "After taking this product for a period of time (a month or more) many people have claimed they have great intestinal regularity, feel better than they have in years, are less bloated, feel lighter, have flat tummies, more energy and that their minds are sharper."
And according to Wagner, just one capsule per day can reverse symptoms of intestinal toxicity within weeks, including fatigue, headaches, depression, weight gain and even acne-prone skin. According to recent evidence, it may actually be effective for reducing toxicity in the colon.
What Ingredients does Colon Magic contain? Colon Magic contains cascara sagrada bark, senna pods, psyllium seeds, turkey rhubarb root, aloe vera juice, barberry root and slippery elm bark.
Do the ingredients in Colon Magic help cleanse the colon? According to several reports, it could. Colon Health Magazine recently noted that cascara sagrada can help people have more frequent bowel movement, which can help remove waste--and its harmful toxins--from the intestinal tract. They claim its efficacy is due to anthraquinone, a naturally-occurring chemical.
"The effectiveness of this colon cleansing herb is normally attributed to anthraquinone, a cathartic that can be found in a number of colon-friendly herbs such as senna, aloes, rhubarb as well as cascara sagrada," writes Colon Health Magazine. "Anthraquinone helps in peristalsis--an action to do with contracting the colon walls that gives you an urge for going for a bowel action."
Interestingly enough, Colon Magic also contains senna, which the magazine claims also contains this bowel-producing compound. Over time, Colon Magic may help cleanse waste and toxins out of the intestinal tract, which can lead to improved digestive health.
Is Colon Magic safe to use? Although most of its ingredients contain few side effects, both senna and cascara sagrada may cause some painful short-term effects. These effects include cramping, diarrhea, loss of fluids (dehydration) and nausea.
Verdict: Colon Magic claims to cleanse the colon, and according to recent evidence, it may be effective for the cleansing of the intestinal tract.
