Irexis

What is Irexis?

Irexis is a male enhancement supplement that claims to naturally treat premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction, two common sexual dysfunction disorders. To enable this, Irexis utilizes several popular sexual enhancers, including yohimbe extract, ginseng and muira puama, a Brazilian tonic. They claim these ingredients go to work in less than an hour, prepping the body for intercourse. Some of their effects are comparable to Cialis, a popular prescription ED treatment.

What ingredients are in Irexis?

Irexis contains catuaba bark, muira puama, tribulus terrestris, yohimbe extract, oyster extract, pumpkin seed, ginseng and zinc.

Do the ingredients in Irexis Work?

t might--but the risk probably isn't worth it. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), yohimbe has been shown to treat impotence, or erectile dysfunction, in some clinical trials. It's currently being used as an alternative treatment for Viagra, a popular ED medication. According to another study reported in Biomedical Research, yohimbe increased the volume of ejaculated semen in male dogs for up to 5 hours after intake. But these reported benefits come at a risk--regular use may cause anxiety, panic attacks, hallucinations or dizziness. According to Prescription for Nutritional Healing, it can also cause seizures and kidney failure, although this is reportedly uncommon.

Studies conducted on the aphrodisiac power of catuaba bark, muira puama and pumpkin seed show they are not effective sexual aids, despite claims made by Irexis. Although Discovery Health says catuaba bark may improve "sexual enhancement", no studies confirm this theory. Some minor sexual enhancements have been observed in ginseng, but can also cause serious side effects such as changes in blood pressure and mania-like symptoms.

Is Irexis safe?

No. Yohimbe bark can cause serious adverse effects, including an increase in panic attacks, hallucinations or dizziness. It can also cause rapid heart beat, high blood pressure, insomnia, seizures, and in rare instances, kidney failure. Ginseng is known to cause rapid changes in blood pressure, muscle pain, headaches, diarrhea, nausea, and mania-like symptoms. People with a history of blood or heart problems should seek medical advice before taking Irexis.

Verdict:

Yohimbe bark is arguably Irexis's most effective ingredient--but it's also its most dangerous one. With an increased risk for blood pressure and heart abnormalities, Irexis probably isn't ideal for people with pre-existing heart or blood conditions. Bottom line: Irexis may reduce symptoms of ED, but you may risk your health in the process.
